Amazon Book Unboxing!

Pile on that TBR.

I. Just. Got. Some. New. Books.

I'm dancing around with excitement right now. BUT FIRST...

Hey, how's it going, fellow galactic reader nerds?

Thought I'd change it up a bit, ya know?

So, it's no secret that I like Amazon a lot. A LOT. Recently I sold some textbooks back to the highest bidder, and in this case it was Amazon. In return, they give you a gift card. Yes. But what the pickles did I buy? Call down. I'll show you, friend.

1. And I Darken, by Kiersten White

My sources tell me it's a sort of retelling involving Vlad the Impaler. You know, the guy who inspired Dracula.

No. Not that shit. More like this shit...

Retro as hell.

What was I even talking about? Oh, yes. Dracula. No, And I Darken. So the book follows a girl named Lada and her younger brother, who were abandoned by their jerk father and raised in the Ottoman courts - also known as their enemies of all time. So I'm assuming. However, the son of the sultan catches Lada's heart - maybe - and her brother's friendship. But the one she loves, I guess, is the heir to the throne of the Ottoman's. Oooh, drama.

I'm wondering where this is going to go since it's inspired by Vlad the Impaler, and we all know he enjoyed chopping heads off and displaying them around his fortress. Hm. Okay.

THIS BETTER BE GOOD.

2. Snow Like Ashes, by Sara Raasch

So it's about the kingdom of winter. Nah. We haven't seen that before.

REST IN PEACE, MAN.

Apparently the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and enslaved, and a young youth named Meira has lived a life as a refugee, training almost everyday like a bad ass. But wait. There's a boy. I didn't see that one coming either. Iamsuchajerk. The boy she loves will be king someday, so she's training to help him bring the Kingdom of Winter back to power. I'm all about that bring our kingdom back to power shit. I eat that stuff up. And a full dosage of a magic seeking quest? Sign me up. This better not be shit. 😐

ONWARD!

3. The Siren, by Kiera Cass

Yes, this is classic love shit. But mermaids. Think The Little Mermaid, but hopefully way better. I'm flailing my arms in excitement. BYE.

4. The Kiss of Deception, by Mary E. Pearson

I'm just damn curious. I've heard a lot about this, and therefore I need to read it. For curiosities sake. Princess Leia, whoops, I mean Princess Lia, is apparently a bad ass who escapes her father's kingdom the night before her wedding because she doesn't want to marry some ass hole for a political alliance. Reasonable. Yes. She lives in some small village where she meets two handsome strangers: one a jilted prince and the other an assassin who wants to kill her! Oh my. The horror. 😶

Pile that on my TBR, and it better be good. Also, it has a map. I trust books with maps. 😌

5. Finnikin of the Rock, by Melina Marchetta

Finnikin is from a kingdom that is being held by some magical curse. Sweet. I'm no longer bored. Just kidding, of course. Ten years after this happened, Finnikin and his mentor meet a girl who says that the kings son is still alive and she can lead them to him. Alright. Okay. QUESTS!

ADVENTURE TIME! Whichever you prefer.

Anyways, it sounds pretty cool and I've heard a lot of great things about it. 😬

And I saved the best for last...

6. The Forbidden Game, by L. J. Smith

Oooooh, I am super excited about this. No. Joke. I've heard rumors that the book Caraval is pretty similar to this series. So, obviously, I had to.

I got a pretty sweet bind up of all three of the books because they are super old. Like 1994 old. But please, that doesn't mean they won't be good. No, I'm not being sarcastic.

Basically there's this guy named Julian. He runs some kind of game store, and a girl named Jenny buys a game from him for her boyfriend Tom. But what she doesn't know is that Julian reigns as the Prince of Shadows, and the game comes to life. And Jenny and all of her friends are thrown into the game. Julian likes Jenny, and Jenny has the hots for Julian. And Tom is a jerk. Or so I've heard.

But I enjoyed Caraval  a lot. I read it the day it came out. This is like the original idea. And I cannot WAIT to read this! I love the idea of some crazy Prince of Shadows forcing seven people to survive some kind of crazy game. Sounds awesome.

I'm becoming more familiar with L. J. Smith's books, and I had no idea that she wrote the books that the TV series, The Secret Circle, was based on. Needless to say, I'm getting those next.

BYYYYYYYYYE.

LLAP, nerds. Gotta go to my long, lost home planet.

Lot's of 💙 and 🍵,

Liz
