June Book Haul!
In the land of gods and monsters...
Hey, how's it going?
Hello my fellow book nerds! Welcome to the home planet of That Gal Reads, also known as me, Liz.
June is a great, GREAT reading month. The whole summer is, obviously. Here's some books I hauled in June. If you didn't know, at the beginning of each month, I make a book purchase. Sometimes it's just once a month, and other times I pick 'em as I see 'em, adding on to my forever growing pile of TBR. But of course. Fellow book nerds totally get it. And if you don't get it...get off of my property. Simple as that.
Without further rambling, and a virtual drum role later (wait, let's insert a drum role gif!)...
Just kidding, couldn't find a good one, so dkkfjfrojrkgkffkmkmgkmkgrmg (ehem, that's a drum role sound), my June book haul!
Hm. That top book title is definitely cut off...but hey, it's pretty - right? And I definitely sprawled on the floor to get this picture. Love it, you must, young padawan.
Enough blabbing, let's swoosh into my June book haul (before I get distracted again)!
Crooked Kingdom
My heart just isn't ready for this, and won't be ready for a long, long time, man. For those of you who don't know (leave, NOW), this is the second book in the Six of Crows duology. Nope. Not ready. Not ready for the end. Probably won't read this for a long time. When it comes to the last book in a series, I just freak out. I just...I can't. Not right now. NOT. RIGHT. NEVER.
No. Nooooo. The pain is too much. Leigh Bardugo, you Queen of Darkness!
But before I explode with tears...(and break the hearts of the Vampire Diaries fandom -I feel all of your pain, btw)...
The Dark Hills Divide
Yes. My childhood. This book was published when I was a child. Maybe a teenager? Literally can't remember that far back. It's written by Patrick Carman, and was an instant love affair for me back in the day. It's a Middle Grade fantasy book that follows a girl named Alexa in the Land of Elyon who dares cross the great wall. Oh. Yes. Just wanted to relive my childhood with this one. And since most of my childhood books went missing, I thought I'd pick up another one for myself.
Cinder
So this is a popular book. It's by Marissa Meyer. I've been meaning to read this for centuries. You will remember me for centuries. Sorry, momentary distraction. I'm not big into fairy tales, so I like the science fiction element that Meyer's is using - makes it a little more interesting for a science fiction nerd. LLAP.
The Young Elites
The book title and sword on the cover just did it for me. While in Barnes & Noble, I said, "oh, I like swords. I like blue. That's a good name." Then I bought it. Of course I read the synopsis. You know, just the authors name. Kidding. We all know Marie Lu is already awesome, and also that I'm way behind. HAH. Also, children with strange abilities? I shall read that. Eventually. 😱
Ruined
Ouch. My fingers hurt. Oh, I'm just kidding. Ruined, by Amy Tintera, has an ugly as heck cover. Don't hate me. Please. So in all truth, I was driven by the synopsis. Revenge, kingdoms, butt kicking high stakes? Yes. I will be there for that. Always. #Magnusiloveyou (ya feel that Falling Kingdoms love?)
The Bone Season
Nothing fuels me more than a good ol' criminal underworld. I eat that stuff with my toast and drink it with my tea. It follows a girl named Paige (icky name, btw) who can break into peoples minds. Ooooh, I'm feeling those Professor X vibes right about now. The whole synopsis seems a little confusing, however, I'm hoping this is a good read. PLEASE. Also, author: Samantha Shannon.
Grave Mercy
Oh. Oh. Oh. That book cover. Well, you can only see the book spine in my picture, so... https://images-na.ssl-images amazon.com/images/I/51hYpgX1yhL._SX328_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg
Yes, you're welcome book buddies. Hope that link works...
I promise, I'm a professional. Anyways, let's trudge forward to end this thing. Am I right? A YA fantasy where the leading lady becomes an assassin to the god of death? Mhm, yes, bring that straight to me please. Also, it's a series. Bring the seconds right now. The series was written by Robin LaFevers, and by the looks of the synopsis, it's another soul killer.
This, dear fellow readers, concludes my June book haul. Ah, so much fun. So LLAP book nerds. Let me know when the mother ship is landing. ✌
💙Liz
